Connect Robinhood to Claude
Robinhood now has an MCP link you can paste into Claude as a custom connector. Once it's in, Claude can read positions, balances and order history across your Robinhood accounts and trade in a separate MCP account you fund on purpose. This shows the whole setup in the Claude desktop app, from Settings to the first question.

This guide connects Robinhood to Claude in about ten minutes: add a custom connector in Claude's settings, paste Robinhood's Trading MCP link, sign in, open the separate MCP account an agent is allowed to trade in, allow access, then set each tool to allow or ask. The video ends with Claude reading premarket moves for a Robinhood watchlist.

What you need
- A Robinhood account that shows the Agentic tab in the web app (Robinhood's agentic trading is a US product and is in beta, so not every account has it yet)
- The Claude desktop app or claude.ai on a plan that allows custom connectors
- A few minutes to decide which tools Claude may use without asking
Steps
Open Settings
In the Claude desktop app, open the File menu and choose Settings, or press Ctrl+, (Cmd+, on a Mac). On claude.ai, Settings is under your name in the bottom-left corner.
Add a custom connector
In the Settings sidebar, click Connectors. Below the connectors Anthropic ships, click "Add custom connector". Give it a name you'll recognise in the chat, such as Robinhood, and leave the window open; you need a link from Robinhood next.
Copy the MCP link
In Robinhood on the web, open the Agentic tab and the "Connect an external agent" page. It explains the three rules: your agent can analyse the markets and trade, it trades only in a dedicated account separate from the rest of your portfolio, and you get notified when it trades. Under "Connect to Robinhood", click Copy link next to the Robinhood Trading MCP address. The same page lists the equivalent steps for Claude Code and ChatGPT.

Paste the link
Back in Claude, paste the address into the connector's URL field. Claude inspects the server and pre-selects what it finds: Authentication "Sign in now" (you sign in through Robinhood's own login before any tool is available) and OAuth client "Register automatically". Leave both as detected, leave Request headers empty, and click Continue. The connector now appears in your list with a Connect button.
Connect
Click Connect. Claude hands you to Robinhood in the browser to sign in. Nothing about your Robinhood password passes through Claude; the connection is an authorisation you can revoke later from Robinhood.
Open your MCP account
Robinhood asks you to open an MCP account, a separate brokerage account that is the only place an agent can trade. You can transfer money into it now or click "I'll fund the account later" and keep going. Your existing Individual, Retirement and Crypto accounts stay read-only to the agent.
Allow access
The "Claude wants to access Robinhood" page spells out what you're granting: place trades in your MCP account, view positions, orders, P&L and balances for equities, crypto and options in your other accounts, and view, edit and create watchlists. It also lists the personal data Claude will process, including account numbers and order history. Read it, then click Allow. You can revoke access at any time from Robinhood's Security & Privacy settings or the agentic trading account page.
Set tool permissions
Back in Claude's Connectors page, open the Robinhood connector. Every tool the server offers is listed, from Get equity quotes and Get equity positions to earnings calendars, analyst ratings and tax lots, each with three settings: always allow, ask every time, or never. Leave the read tools on allow if you like, and set anything that places or changes an order to ask, so a trade never goes out without you seeing it.
Try it out
Start a new chat and ask something only your account can answer. In the video, the question is about Robinhood's default watchlist, and Claude comes back with a table of premarket price against previous close for every name on it, with a one-paragraph read of what moved. The "Used Robinhood" line above the answer shows which connector supplied the data.
what are the premarket moves for my first list in robinhood?
Before you rely on it
- The connector shows as connected in Claude's Settings → Connectors
- Your MCP account exists and holds only the money you mean an agent to trade with
- Every order-placing tool is set to ask, not always allow
- Claude's answer to a portfolio question shows "Used Robinhood" and matches what the app shows
- You know where to revoke access in Robinhood if you change your mind

Frequently asked questions
- Can Claude trade my main Robinhood account?
- No. Robinhood's agent access places trades only in the MCP account you open during setup. Your other accounts are visible to Claude for positions, orders, P&L and balances, but it cannot trade in them.
- Does this cost anything?
- Robinhood's agentic page does not list a separate fee for the MCP connection; standard trading applies in the MCP account. Custom connectors in Claude are part of paid Claude plans.
- What can Claude see?
- The access page lists it: all your Robinhood accounts including account numbers, positions and balances, transactions and order history, and notifications Robinhood sends after an order is placed. Read that page before you click Allow.
- Will Claude place a trade without asking?
- Only if you let it. In Claude's connector settings each tool can be set to always allow, ask every time or never. Set the order tools to ask and Claude stops for your confirmation each time.
- Does it work in ChatGPT or Claude Code too?
- Robinhood's Agentic page gives instructions for Claude Desktop, Claude Code and ChatGPT using the same MCP link. This guide shows the Claude desktop app; the Robinhood side is identical.
- How do I disconnect it?
- In Robinhood, go to Security & Privacy settings or the agentic trading account page and revoke Claude's access. In Claude, remove the connector from Settings → Connectors.
